As the credits begin to scroll across the screen and thus ending 2012 we embark on our new journey for 2013. Looking back over the year I see the triumphs and the failures of reaching my intended goals. However, this is the beauty of having a new year, we get to start all over again.
One of my very first resolutions for each new year is setting out my Bible reading plans. I try to read through the Bible more than once every year, so this takes time, preparation and intentional planning. I use the same plan each time I read through the Bible, but I like to mix it up as the weeks progress. I tried a new plan in the summer and immediately switched back to my trusted reading structure. Needless to say, I like routine.
Today at your fingertips are many opportunities to read through the Scriptures. You can no longer find a reasonable excuse for not navigating through the Bible. Many of us remember the days of B.R.E.A.D. Bible reading plans that you stuck in your Bible, praying that you did not lose it, or praying that no one decided to check up on your little boxes to see if they had been checked with a Bic ink pen. Now, we have smart phones, iPhones, tablets and iPads. You no longer need an accordion folded Bible reading plan, you can simply download Bible apps to your device and start reading. Now, these apps will give you notifications each day of where you need to read. You don’t even have to keep track anymore!
YouVersion is my most used Bible app. I read my Bible from it daily. Within this app are many Bible reading plans. You can read through the entire Bible in 90 days or 365 days. If you want to read the New Testament there are plans for that too.
